These eye catching teardrop earrings are handmade by Quail Run Jewelry.
Each shape is hand cut from copper sheet. The shapes are then put in a hot kiln to "anneal" the metal. This removes unwanted artifacts and oil from the makers hands. The pieces are removed from the kiln and left to cool. When cooled, an adhesive is placed on the back of each piece and the desired color enamel is applied. This is called "counter enamel". The "counter enamel" is important in that the enamel on the back of the piece actually supports the integrity of the piece making it stronger and prettier. After cooling, the process is repeated on the front of the pieces in layers until the desired thickness is achieved. This adding of enamel and firing can be repeated several times for each piece to get the quality look we desire and that you deserve.
After all coats have been thoroughly fired and cooled, the edges of each piece is smoothed and they are placed on our hand formed solid sterling silver ear wires.
